Artist Talk between Heather Bruegl (Oneida/Stockbridge-Munsee) and artist Carolynne Whitefeather, 9 August, 3 pm-4 pm
Artist Carolynne Whitefeather draws on the stories of her youth and the nature around her to create her art. Drawing on lessons from her Comanche and Seminole Elders and pairing them with the nature she grew up with, she combines disciplines to create works that tell stories about the land we live on. Heather Bruegl is a citizen of the Onedia Nation of Wisconsin and a first line descendent Stockbrige-Munsee and is a public historian, curator, author, and lecturer. Her work centers on the intersection of history, art, and public memory. Join Heather in conversation with Carolynne as they discuss the connections between art and land and how Indigenity plays a role in telling a full story.
